With economic conditions in their current state it’s hard to turn down new clients.  Unfortunately, it is sometimes necessary.  The hard and fast rule is this: If the client acts like a bad boss expecting you to do absolutely everything right now like it’s a crisis then you shouldn’t work with them.  Clients are not spouses, you can’t take them on hoping that they’ll change in the future.  You really shouldn’t do that anyway but that is another topic I won’t be getting into.

If you do turn down the client you will save yourself and the client time that would have been ill spent.

The number one thing I always stress to every client is that no one can guarantee you will be number one in SERPs.  If your client does not have the budget to achieve reasonable results then it is not worth it.  It goes without saying that you must properly set each clients expectations since most think you might have a magic wand that make them number one.

We will do our best to optimize their website and it’s content to adhere to search engine standards which in turn will increase the probability that their website will be ranked efficiently and accordingly.
