iPad (ios) vs. aPad (Android)
We are currently evaluating the use of an iPad (ios) vs. aPad (Android) for field use. So far the Android powered Viewsonic G-tablet is a powerhouse with the newest Tegra2 processor, one mini USB port, one standard sized USB, a camera, and a micro SD card slot, all of which the iPad does NOT have.
The g-tablet made by Viewsonic has a larger touchscreen (10.1″) than the iPad. Although the screen is larger it is not better. The viewing angle of the touchscreen is approximately +/-10 degrees. For a company that makes lcd displays this is unacceptable and absolutely terrible. I’d bet the screens are a market surplus of netbook lcd’s.
Battery life between the units is comparable. Being a fan of Android I can honestly say that the layout of Android’s market is much better than that of Apple’s App Store. Searching and categorization is awesome on Android’s Market. If you purchase an app you have 24 hours to try it before you are stuck with it unlike the App Store where there is a no refunds policy.
We will have an in-depth head to head comparison soon. But for now I ask how is it that a hippie who hated corporate america and “the man” has grown up to be just that? It’s our way or no way, you bought it, no refunds thank you.
